What is the largest breed of house cat?
Are there any housecat breeds that are the size of predatory cats? What is the world record for the largest housecat?

The largest breed of domesticated housecat is the Maine Coon although when tamed the Serval is considered the largest. The runner ups for the largest breed are the large Savannahs and Ragdolls. The reason there are several listed is because there is a debate between the different cat organizations, such as FIFe, TICA, and CFA on how to determine size (weight alone or weight, length, and height) and how “breed” is defined.
The Maine Coon is comparable in size to the wild Jungle Cat. Its average weight is around 20 pounds and the Jungle Cat’s is about 17 pounds, but there have been reported weights of much larger in both (35 pounds and 48 inches from paw to paw for the record holder Maine Coon).
The Serval is actually the largest, but many consider it to be a wild species not a breed of domesticated cat, while others do recognize the ones that have been tamed and bred as domesticated. This cat can reach weights of 40 pounds or more. The closest comparable wild cat would be the Bob Cat who comes in at around 30 pounds.
The Savannahs are also up for debate because some consider them to be a mixed breed, usually a Serval or Bengal and a domestic short hair or Siamese, depending on the US or UK version. They can weigh up to 25 pounds. The Ragdoll breed is a true domesticated cat and can weigh around 16 to 17 pounds, giving the Maine Coon competition for its place as the largest domesticated housecat.
