As with most things fabulous, it's a product of the 1960s. Eero Aarnio was the original creator who needed a chair for his new home but wanted something unique.

Apparently, the genuine ones are all white with different color seating areas. The counterfeits/reproductions have a chrome or stainless base and are usually labeled sphere chairs.

Still, I always wanted one, either round or egg-shaped, with the speakers built-in, like they used to give away on The Price Is Right, so many years ago!
