What is the Funkiest band/song of all time?
Here's my vote:
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$This one wins in my book I think... as a Saxophone player I am a fan!
I was torn between this one, the AWB -- Cut the Cake, and Tower of Power -- Down To The Nightclub.
I'm an old keyboard player (B3) but I agree about the funkyness of the Clavinet.
I remember when Sly and the Family Stone songs came out, and man were they funky.
Extremely Funkified!

Anything with a clavinet is automatically funkier, think "Superstition" or "Use Me:"

Or if you want funky in the context of rock (classic rock specifically) there's always "Up on Cripple Creek:"

Remember, Funk was originally supposed to be raw and rock-driven, not the smooth disco-like sound that it evolved into years later.

M$Anyone who answers this question without saying James Brown should have points taken away from them.

Great Question BTW! What fun :)
Though his music had funky elements, I think he really is much more of a soul/R&B artist. Just one musician's opinion.
Although he's often referred to as the "Godfather of Soul," I don't think those two titles are mutually exclusive. Definitely one of the funkiest people ever!
