As you know, Nattokinase is an enzyme (a protein that speeds up biochemical reactions). It is extracted from a Japanese food called natto. Natto is boiled soybeans that have been fermented. It has been used for diseases of the cardiovascular disease (cardio=heart, vascular-blood vessels; so, it is effective in the diseases of the heart and its blood vessels); blood circulatory system and its diseases. People (men and women) in their forties should supplement with nattokinase routinely to maintain healthy whole blood viscosity, which increases with age.
Nattokinase, the chemical in natto is responsible for its effects. It was discovered by Dr. Hiroyuki Sumi, University of Chicago.
