What is the difference between Shiraz and Syrah?

Are these two types of wine from the same type of grape but grown in different regions, are they different types of grapes or is there some other difference? What kind of flavor differences are there, if any, between these two types of wine?

Shiraz and Syrah wines are one and the same and are both names for the same red grape wine. The Shiraz or Syrah grape is called Syrah in the U.S., France and many other countries while it is called Shiraz in Australia where it is considered the finest red wine grown in that country.
Shiraz is the most popular and widely planted red grape in Australia. Currently, tt has become popular in some wineries in the US who are making an Australian style wine with this type of grape and are naming their wine Shiraz too.

The shiraz grapes were thought to have come from Persia but research indicates that this type of grape is native of the Rhone Valley located in France. Shiraz is know for it spicy, blackberry, plum, and peppery flavors.

The only difference between Shiraz and Syrah, is their name. The two names are used for the same red wine grape in different parts of the world. In other words, they are the same type of grape but grown in different regions and also named differently.

The Syrah or Shiraz wine/grape is known as Shiraz in Australia, Canada and South Africa while it is called Syrah in Chile, New Zealand, France, Argentina, Uruguay and other parts of Europe and the United States.

The grape can be made into different varieties of wine, such as the normal dry table wine or blended with Cabernet Sauvignon or Viognier.

The normal dry red wine made from Syrah or Shiraz grape can have a peppery and blackberry aroma, but there is no typical aroma for the Syrah or Shiraz wine. This is because it tastes differently in different parts of the world.
