Cosmetic surgery is a type of surgery that is done to improve something about your looks without altring your overall appearance. Getting a mole removed would be cosmetic.
In the days of political correctness, it started being said that all types of surgery taht altered your look in any way was cosmetic surgery. Not true with the insurance companies, though.
