What is the difference between normal hair loss and excessive hair loss?
Can you tell me how to determine the difference between normal hair loss and excessive hair loss? Should I be worried? Or is it that I am just getting older and I am starting to shed or lose more hair?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Take a look at your life and see if you can rule some of these things out. If you know you have a clean bill of health, have not started new meds or changed your diet, perhaps you have been under a lot of stress lately.
Excessive hair loss can be genetic. If you notice a gradual increase in the hair loss or even a receding hair line, it could just be the cards you were dealt in life. Always feel free to talk with your doctor. Sometimes they can guide you in the right direction.
Nioxin actually makes some awesome products and systems for hair loss!

M$Normal hair loss depends on genetics and is therefore very individual. Modern society cannot yet cure the heredity hair disorder, so even if we usually shed a lot of hair, it is considered to be normal hair loss as long as it is no more than you are used to. Normal hair loss may increase with age; moreover male-pattern baldness is not abnormal. It just means that it is predetermined by your genes that you personal normal hair loss is 95%. But we can still control your normal hair loss by proper hair care: thickening shampoos and by avoiding excessive coloring, etc.
A variety of factors can alter the normal hair growth cycle and cause temporary or permanent hair loss including medication, radiation, chemotherapy, exposure to chemicals, hormonal and nutritional factors, thyroid disease, generalized or local skin disease, and stress.
