What is the difference between morphine and heroin?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

This quote is most certainly true:
"Morphine: It can not easily cross the CSF of brain and central (brain action ) is slower than Heroin.
Heroin: It can easily cross the CSF of brain and central (brain action ) is faster than Morphine."
However you need to take this into consideration when deciding the difference between these two. Heroin while invented and created by professionals many years ago, is now created in un-regulated and highly unsafe fashions. The recipe for the production of heroin can vary and even contain different chemicals and drugs. While morphine is still produced legally, in safe and controlled atmospheres. So the real difference is, when offered the two, morphine will always be the same, heroin will be a crapshoot depending on where and who your getting it from.
to quote my source: "Heroin, prepared in clandestine ("kitchen" or "jungle") laboratories, is diluted ("cut") by every member of the illegal heroin distributing chain, i.e. smugglers, traffickers, dealers and vendors."
This will also make an argument on which is more potent irrelevant, because heroin has no standard quality or strengh.

The only significant difference between them is that the acetyl molecule allows heroin to cross the blood-brain barrier more quickly than ordinary morphine. ...

This is copied and pasted. Please use quote / end quote when you are using other people's words in an answer.
Heroin is three times potent than morphine.
In terms of effect on the human body, they are identical and medically interchangable except for dosage. Both are converted to the same form of morphine in the body.
The significant difference between them is that the acetyl molecule allows heroin to cross the blood-brain barrier more quickly than ordinary morphine. The result is that, in terms of dosage, heroin is about three times stronger.
