What is the difference between a normal wetsuit (i.e., for scuba diving/snorkeling) and a triathlon-specific wetsuit?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The differences relate to thickness and flexibility. A scuba wetsuit is usually thicker than a tri specfic wetsuit and will keep one warm while diving deeper in the water. It is also less flexible and not useful while trying to stretch the arms during a swim.

Triathlon swimming wetsuits differ from wetsuits used for surfing, scuba or windsurfing in the way they interact with the water around them. Swimming wetsuits are designed for speed while a scuba or other wetsuit is designed more for warmth.
