What is the deal with this live cam suicide video on Facebook?

Someone posted it on my Facebook, I found this link. There are different ages and names listed for this "live cam suicide"... What's the deal with it? I am not going to watch the video or go to any links. Is it a hoax, spam, real? What type of person post this on Facebook and what type of person wants to watch something like this?

Most of the say this:
-quote-
Sofia, 22 yrs Girl from Chicago committed Suicide before a Cam after breakup. First time a Live suicide death video of true lovers in the history on a Cam (Weak hearts dont watch)
--end quote--
Tip for best answer: M$0.50
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hi Cosmo, I'm glad you didn't click on that link. It's a scam.
It's one of those Facebook scams that tricks you into forwarding this to all your friends just by clicking on the link. Then it does this:

"The scam then displays a webpage that asks you to verify your age by completing a questionnaire. The scammer earns his or her money via a commission for every survey completed. They can even trick you into handing over your mobile phone number to sign you up for a premium rate SMS service."

end/quote

Man, they come up with new and weirder stuff everyday. They think they can get your attention with something outrageous. Well... if it was truly outrageous, it would be on Mahalo, and we'd all be talking about it... right?

Peace out!

Hi. I think this is just terrible. I don't really believe it to be true, as the media would have most likely picked up on the story etc. But what is worrying, is why would someone put something like this on a public forum, and what kind of sick mind would invent this type of story! Are they so bored that they have to create a suicide story? ( I just pray it isn't true, but seem to think it's a hoax. Yes, it really is indeed sad, that someone would go this far, just to get attention. I'm pretty sure if it was true, it would be in the papers, or on the news.

These messages are forms of phishing attacks that are designed to lure you (or anyone that can interact with the message) into clicking a link. Some will take you to another page that will ask you to fill out a survey but also load a virus onto your computer. These viruses are designed to look like it's scanning your computer for virus' (a fake anti-virus program) meanwhile preventing your real antivirus from working. This is known as scareware. These messages can do all sorts of other things but this is not the forum to go on into things like that. So to simply answer your question, its a fake message that will bugger your computer up. To find out more, just do a quick Google search for keywords such as Malware, Trojan Horse, Computer Virus, Scareware, Phishing, Spear Phishing, Pharming, etc. You'll get all the information that you can handle. I hope this helps!

Sharing - When sharing comes, there are two types of people. One who would share with you everything that is worth sharing either happiness or sorrow. The other group consists of those who share only weird and nasty things. The suicide video (even if it is hoax) is the creation of the second type of group.
