What is the coolest and most unique animal you have seen as a family pet? and would you ever consider this as a pet yourself?

I was wondering what everyone thought was the coolest most unique pet someone had as a part of their family. I once saw someone who had tiger, it was really cool and really pretty as well. If you have pictures of this pet please include them!

I have answered a similar question before and I still think the coolest and most unique animal I have seen as a family pet is the anteater.

The first time I came across this unique and strange looking animal, I froze. But now I have come to like it. It is a very cute and docile animal and a loving pet. Scary to look at, but let the looks not deceive you. It is a cool pet.

My aunt’s neighbor has one, and that was the first one I have ever seen and played with. I do not know if it is just this particular one that is calm or if all anteaters are well behaved, but I would love to have one if the law in my area permits.

I once knew a family that had a pet skunk. It was of course de-scented. I have heard they can make good pets. The skunk I saw was not a good example of this because that skunk was mean! When company came over they had to put it up in another room and you could hear it making all kinds of weird noises because it wanted out. I was just a little kid at the time and I was scared to even go in that house. Maybe it depends on if you found it in the wild and tried to tame it or if you got it when it was young.

Just a bit of trivia about the skunk; they are not found on any other continent or island unless imported there. So, I guess they are what you would call a made in America pet.

we've had quite a few strange animals while i was growing up. my brother once caught a baby deer that we kept for about a week before we called someone to come take it. We've caught an injured hawk and owl and kept them. I once found a raccoon and kept it for a year. And we've went through about three Lynx's and owned a Wolf Rescue for about ten years. Of course those are no where near as exotic as a freaking tiger or anything lol but they were still pretty cool.

The panda is the most unusual animal that I would consider as a pet. I would love to have a panda, they are so adorable even if they are huge! I've seen them from a distance at the National Zoo in Washington DC, and they look so calm. The best part is that they are vegetarian, so I don't have to worry about harming anyone!

Of course, I can't have a panda as a pet because they are endangered. But they are so cool.
