The primary causes of acne are:
*Bacterial infection – Certain bacteria infecting pores can be a source of Acne
*Hereditary – Acne for some people is a hereditary condition. No particular gene has been identified to date.
*Hormones – Changes in hormone levels can stimulate Acne, for example menstrual cycle and puberty
*Skin inflammation – An inflammation of the skin and scratching can cause Acne
*Stress – Various forms of stress can cause Acne
Cysts are usually caused by bacterial infections, these tend to reside within the sub-dermal layer of skin in deep tissue. Cysts are generally benign and mainly full of fluid. Benign cysts do not tend to be serious unless they interfere with the body’s normal operations.
An abscess is a type of blister, naturally developed to protect the body from infection and/or bleeding blood vessels. Abscesses are usually very tender and are filled with pus, an output of the body’s defence against the infection process. Abscesses have a reputation of causing pain, in some cases extreme pain.
