What is the cheapest place to eat in New York City, New York?

As a general rule, what is the best bang for my buck as far as restaurants are concerned? Aside from fast food, which restaurants are good mid-priced places?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

New York City is not known for being an inexpensive place to eat or live. Most restaurants there will have you shelling out $50 or more for a simple meal for two. Even hamburgers can be expensive in New York City where some of them go for more than $10 each. But if you know where to look, you can find a cheap meal.

One of the cheapest places to eat is Dojo on West 4th St in Greenwich VillageThis place caters to vegetarians and you can get a soy burger and an] for just $4.25. If you crave a good old hot dog, you can find a real bargain at Grays Papaya on 8th Avenue in the Garment District. For just $2.75 you can get 2 hot dogs and a medium size beverage.

If you want to get a little fancier, you can go to Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop on 5th Ave in the Flatiron District. Here you can get a bowl of Matzoh Ball soup, a Chopped Liver sandwich and an egg cream for just $8.25. If it's a beer and a burger you want, check out the Corner Bistro on West Fourth St in Greenwich Village. You can get a nice juicy Bistro Burger and a beer for $8.50.
