Special events include Music at Noon, Wednesday WindDown, Saturday Family Fun Days, 4th of July Celebration, Holiday in Lights, and Ice Skating competitions. This park was created to provide visitors with the enjoyment that they always dreamed of. It was originally a multi-block vacant and chaotic lot that was transformed into a tourist attraction.

M$The Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta Georgia was the vision of Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games CEO Billy Payne. The park was developed for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and was constructed with over 75 million dollars in funds raised by the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and local philanthropic foundation grants. The park consists of 21 acres and much of it is designed for recreational public use. The park is managed by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority and puts on many free public events including the Fourth of July Celebration, Wednesday Wind Down concert series and Fourth Saturday Family Fun Days. The park also hosts a series of events, festivals, and fundraisers year round. Events this fall have included WRESTLEMANIA XXVII, The ASL Foundation walk for Lou Gerigs disease, and the seasonal holiday in lights and public ice skating rink. The Centennial Olympic Park is included in most walking tours of Atlanta, and most areas of the park are open to the public year round. You can also see a virtual walking tour at the parks website by following this link http://www.centennialpark.com/events/walkingtour.html The park brings an estimated 3 million visitors every year.
