What is the book, "Scarlet Letter" about? What was the central theme?

Tip for best answer: M$0.11
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The Scarlet Letter is about a Puritan woman named Hester Prynne who is punished and ostracized for having a child out of wedlock. She's forced to wear a red A (for adultery), even though the child's father isn't married (he's the town priest).

I couldn't tell you what the central theme is because I stopped reading long before the end. It's an incredibly boring book for such an interesting premise.

I saw the movie. It reminded me of the movie, "The Village".
