What is the book, "Old Man of the Sea" about? Why did you like the book?

I've read this book, and it was the first (and only) book by Hemingway I read.
The story is deceptively simplistic: an old man takes out to the sea, catches a big fish, which gets eaten by sharks on his way home.
But beyond the simplicity of the basic premise, Hemingway paints a deeply moving picture of a man's struggle against nature and the elements. Reading this book feels like actually going out with that man and sharing in all his difficulties. And this is prose at its best: the narration, the prose, the words just disappear and what's left are you, the reader, and the story.
This is just my own opinion, as a reader. You'll probably find more information on Wikipedia.

Do you see any similarities between the movie "Jaws" or "Orca" with the book? Both are stories about man struggles against nature and his eventual victory.
