The Irish Wolfhound, a very ancient breed, is generally accepted as being the tallest registered breed. These impressive animals can reach 35 inches in height and can be up to 92 inches (over 7.5 feet!) from the nose to the tip of the tail! This breed is not as heavy, weighing up to only 120lbs!

A friend I knew growing up had a family that was forever getting an Irish Wolfhound to replace the one that passed away. These dogs have the best personality! It's too bad that their average life span is only about 7 years.
