What is the better eBook reader-- the Nook or the Kindle?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The Nook is not yet published, but it is in the comparison.
The two are largely comparible. Both have a 6'' main screen. The Kindle has a real keyboard, the Nook has a second touch-screen. Memory is the same (2 GB).
Main difference is that the Nook will support PDF and EPUB natively, while the Kindle uses native AZW, which is an Amazon only format.
The Kindle has free wireless, including some internet facilities, the Nook has free wifi only in B&N shops. The wifi options of the Nook are US only, so if you are non-US, it is not even an option.
The Kindle has Text-to-Speech. I'm not sure how well this works (haven't been able to test it yet), but I personally think this is a huge benefit.
So, which one you prefer depends largely on where you are going to buy your books, B&N or Amazon. If you prefer to read newspapers and blogs, the Amazon Kindle is better. If you like a fancy touch-screen to type in text, the Nook is better.
Also, if you are US based, you have the opportunity to choose the Kindle DX, which is twice the screen-size, but also more expensive.
I myself just ordered the Kindle 2, but as I am not living in the US, the Nook wasn't an option for me (yet).
Good luck with choosing the right one for you!
