What is the best wine to serve with Thanksgiving dinner?

I rarely drink or purchase wine and have no idea what type of wine to buy for Thanksgiving dinner. Is there a brand or type of wine that may be best to serve with Thanksgiving dinner? In your opinion, what is the best wine I can serve?

No doubt, you drink or purchase wine rarely, but your guest list could be as varied as the dishes you wish to serve on the special day. It is a good idea to serve all white or red wine or an assortment of both.

One of the best Thanksgiving White Wines include Gewurztraminer, this white wine is known to have aromatic gusto and spicy palate. Sauvignon Blanc is a crispy white wine acclaimed for its citrus based flavor. While Riesling from Washington or the Finger Lakes region of New York would taste excellent with any dish whether salty, spicy or sweet.

In the excellent red wine category you could serve Syrah/Shiraz. This wine would be suitable with herb infused stuffing along with white and dark turkey meat. Pinot Noir wine offers mushroom inspired flavors and is a traditionally favorite on this occasion. Beaujolais Nouveau wine is also a light fruity red wine which goes well with turkey.

For Thanksgiving dinner wine, you have two great options. The first is to pick a red "table wine" from Europe. French, Italian and Spanish table wines are often as good as their comparatively priced fancily named counterparts. In fact, although a table wine is often less expensive, the grapes often come from the same region - and sometimes even the same vineyard - as pricier wines.
If you are looking for a specific varietal, then the "go-to" wine for almost any occasion is a cabernet sauvignon. Cabernet sauvignon is grown in almost every major wine region throughout the world, and its flavor profile is subtle enough to pair with just about any meal or snack.
