What is the best Wii game to give an 11 year old girl for Christmas?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Your first instinct might be to go with the well known Barbie, or Disney Princess games. After seeing the terrible reviews, you'll probably look beyond those, but you should keep in mind the reviewers were not an 11 year old girl. She might like them, afterall. These games offer very little replay value, though, and even if she loves the games, I suspect she will grow tired of them quickly.

I recommend Viva Pinata. I've played this game myself (for Xbox, not Wii, but it is the same game), and it is also very kid friendly. Aside from being appropriate for a young girl, this game is also surprisingly cool. I spent several hours playing it. My girlfriend loved it, as well. We only rented the game to test it out. It was much better than I had imagined it would be. I think she would love this game.

Check out this video review, and see if you believe she would like it.

I highly recommend this game. It is a lot of fun, the controls are very easy, and you can spend so much time planting seeds, and attracting animal pinatas to come live in your garden. Watching their interactions is really great... and it is never the same game twice. It also is a really good way to learn, the mechanics of the game are based on real characteristics.

Love this game myself, and reviewed this along with other titles. This one has the highest rating of those I looked at.

Well, I never thought I'd be refuting my own facts. But here it is.
I learned, upon following up on this, that the review site I used listed Viva Pinata for the Wii, in error. Upon further searching, I've discovered despite rumors, this game has not yet been released for the Wii, afterall. There is a version available for Nintendo DS, but not Wii at present. There's speculation it may come out soon, but nothing concrete. I'm taking responsibility for this error. I will be compensating the questioner, and everyone who provided an answer, to be fair, in the hopes nobody will feel cheated by this mistake. From now on, I'll be sure to double-check any sources I use. I hope this hasn't caused anyone too much of an inconvenience.

A good puzzle game would be Zack and Wiki.

Good platformers would be Super Mario Sunshine and Super Paper Mario.

Dance Dance Revolution (and it's sequel) are good.

These are pretty gender neutral.

Anything from the Cooking Mama series. They are amazing and so much fun!
The premise of the game sounds silly. You cook recipes. But it's really fun because you make all the movements, like chopping the onions and peeling the carrots. And they're really cute. It also has multiplayer so good for family bonding.

The above answers are all great. I would add MySims as fun game that would be great for an 11 year old girl.

Dance Dance Revolution! We got several Wii games for my cousin's daughters last Christmas. They loved Guitar Hero, but they adored DDR. I got them an extra dance pad so the sisters can compete. Your 11 year old recipient should get an extra dance pad as well, so she can have friends play simultaneously with her.

If she's interested in it, I would recommend Rock Band 2.

You can't go wrong with Mario Kart!

My daughter is not in sports so definitely the WiiFitness. I'm tired of kids being lazy so I am hoping that Tie Bo whatever comes out as well, or sweating to the oldies. Make them workout.

All good answers above. I would like to to add:

Animal Crossing: City Folk

In the game, you control a custom-created avatar character, build up your own personal house, purchase furniture, gather items like fruit and seashells, and play a number of fun mini-games. It is a creative game. Your main focus is building and customizing your own world, and interacting with the townsfolk and animals. Also, you can play with other people online in the Wii version. You can visit your friends' towns, and they can visit yours.

"All Star Cheer Squad" would be great, in that she'll love it at 11 and still be into it at 16 or 17. With 5 daughters, I LOVE the purchases with any degree of longevity!

I would recommend getting them a Harvest Moon game for the Wii. It's a cute game, with easy to follow instructions, and provides them with hours of task based enjoyment. It also teaches them a little about farming and managing a business.

I suggest any of the PETZ video games. I have an 11 year old sister and she loves them. She also loves Rock Band or Barnyard.
