Hair weaving also called hair integration is a process of braiding synthetic hair to somebody’s own hair in order to cover up hair loss or to increase volume, density and length of hair. It is generally classified into two: 1) basic hair weaving and 2) advanced hair weaving.
Basic hair weaving also known as cornrow weaving is performed by weaving a hair weft through the hair, and attaching commercial hair to the braiding track with the aid of needle and chord. Advanced hair weaving does not make use of braiding track. It employs hand-tied knots to outline the track where the commercial hair is sewn onto.
Techniques include bonding (most common for hair volume), tracking (braided tresses around the head), fusion (glued hair extensions), netting (braided breathable nets on the hair), tree braiding (mixed natural and artificial hair), and lace extensions (the latest method).
