What is the best way to transfer cassettes to digital audio at home?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The quick and easy answer would be to simply connect the headphone jack of the player to the mic jack on your PC or MAC. If you're on a PC you can use Audacity, which is free and open-source, http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ , to record; Garage Band on a MAC. If you are particular, you can get a mixer that connects to the computer via USB or firewire and mix the levels to your liking. The same software mentioned above can support this. The attached link is a blog post that goes into great depth on this topic and even has product recommendations (by the users) to help make sorting this out a bit easier.
Good Luck!
