What is the best way to suspend bowling balls? I am looking to make a Newton's Cradle out of bowling balls.
I have tried anchoring the rope in the finger holes with cement. However after a period of time the cement pops out because the bowling ball has enough give to deform. I was thing about drilling a big screw in the ball but am worried it could break it. Any ideas?

The bowling ball shouldn't break if you drill into it, because bowlers (serious ones, I guess) often drill their own finger holes. See "How To Drill a Bowling Ball" here: http://www.mademan.com/mm/how-drill-bowling-ball.html
Given what you're trying to make from the bowling balls, I'm not sure if some kind of net sling would work--meaning, a sling suspended from a line on either side--or if the lines have to actually be attached to the balls to make it work ... or one line going all the way through it.
Did you see this, though? This class made a Newton's Cradle out of bowling balls. They've attached the balls at the top. Looks they either drilled in an attachment like you're talking about or maybe drilled a "tunnel" between finger holes and threaded the line through.
