What is the best way to study for the Foreign Service Officer exam? Can you find recommended books?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$Anyway, what probably helped me most for the written test was reading The Economist, cover to cover, for pretty much two years. I also read Democracy in America, but don't remember that it was that relevant.
Personal experience.

M$Democracy in America is a good read regardless. Probably my favorite book in my entire college career. I know nothing of the foreign service exam but Democracy in America is always a great book to quote. One of my favorites and if the interviewer is from the Harvard Government Department even more so. They have a thing for Toqueville over there.
The History of the Peloponnesian War is a great quotable book too as it is considered one of the first written works that speaks of international relations.
Just out of curiosity what kind of questions do they ask on the test?
