What is the best way to report bad links you may discover on a Mahalo page?

I don't think asking a Direct Question to the Page Manager is a good way to go, because what I may have to say is not a question. And using the regular Open Question method seems even more like overkill.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There's no harm in sending the page manager a direct question even if it's not technically a question. By bad link, do you mean one that doesn't work, or one that is like a bad website? I would start by contacting the page manager and if they don't change it after a while, you could report it to the staff.

I did mean a link that just doesn't work. The bad link that prompted this question looks like it never worked.

I hesitated to use the direct question because of the 'baggage' that is associated with it, like having to select a best answer to my non-question. But, if that is the way to do it, then that is the way I'll go.

I was hoping for something a little more discreet.

My first suggestion would be, if you have the option yourself to remove the link, go ahead and do it. For example if your belt level is high enough you can make editorial decisions like this on any page. I believe it's at Black Belt where you can do this, I'll correct this sentence if that has changed.

For lower belts, I recommend using the Discussion board on the page. That way the owner can be alerted, Or just use our Direct Question option, which is basically the Private Messaging system for the site.

I did try the message board after I made my last comment yesterday, and so far the link is unchanged. I'll give it a bit more time since it is the weekend and then use the Direct Question method if it isn't fixed, say by tomorrow. Thanks for your input.

If there is a notification to the page manager from notes posted to the message board, that would be preferable to the direct question.

I'm sure people have posted on my boards before and I was not notified, but many of the notification features do not seem to work for me. The only time I get email notifications is if someone adds me as a friends here on Mahalo.

I would use the direct message, not the message board. In my experience the managers are not notified when a post is made on their board, so unless they happen to check it manually, they will not know if something is posted there.

Hmm is that true, I was under the impression there was a notification, or at least there was suppose to be a notification, I'll try to find out.
