What is the best way to keep yourself motivated to do school work and balance things out so you won't burn out?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

Try to integrate your school work into natural wasted time.

For example, if you spend a lot of time in the car and you need to study a chapter of a text book, read the text to a recorder. Then, while you are in the car, instead of listening to the radio, listen to yourself reading your study work. Play the recording while you take a bubble bath with the lights of and candles burning.

While in class, take targeted notes on index cards, Write the "answer" on one side and the "question" on the other. While you are in line at the bank or grocery store, study the index cards.

This type of activity can free up a small amount of time that you can then dedicate to "you" activities.

When your schedule is tied up the very concept that you have no time can accelerator burn out. Look at how you spend your time and cut a few minutes here and there and you might be surprised at the time you can squeeze out to spend on rest and relaxation.

Good luck!

If the input you get doesn't help try picking up a good book on the subject of burnout. Here's one to try:

Focus on the future and the outcomes that you see coming from receiving your degree. If you focus on the current situation and dwell on the anxiety caused by the overload of your schedule, you are setting yourself up for failure.
Remember to continue to exercise regularly and meditate(best if done after exercse) on a daily basis.

If you want to be motivated, first evaluate what would move you to complete the school work given to you. Is it buying latest fashion items or the newest technologies? Reward your self by making a purchase each time you complete the task.

Another option is making a pact or promise with a friend to get the school work done together. If you can get together with a friend, you won't be alone and have someone to help you stay focus on your school work.

Answering the next part of your question, balancing everything is something very difficult to do. I would recommend getting a planner and a note pad. Write down everything that needs to be done for one week at a time on the note pad. Then determine which needs to be done first, second, and until you have everything numbered. Space them out for the week on your planner. Try not to put too much on one day, unless they are not time consuming. I would take a 15 minute break every 45 minutes.

Lastly, do not take on too many classes at once. If you take too many classes, you will have less time to complete everything. Especially if you need to work as well. And it is likely you will burn out from all the work.

Well, I like to listen to music if I keep getting distracted, but it can only be wordless music, such as techno, otherwise you get distracted and confused when you're reading one thing and hearing another.

Since most teachers and school won't allow that, you should try to think really hard why you should work in school. Also, there are plenty of examples WHY you need to do school work. Just take a trip to your local fast-food restaurant!

And as for the balancing, you could try to spread working on school work within fun activities so thinly, you don't get bored of it. For instance, working for 5 minutes, then watching TV for 10 or 15. Maybe not that, but something similar.

The best way is to write down you tasks for the day and set a limit such as an hour to do each one. You will see how much time you need to take to do things. And it'll make you feel less stressed looking at it. You'll see you have more time than you think.

it's all about scheduling and not procrastinating. if you break off small chunks regularly (15 to 30 minutes at a time several times a day) the work will get done and you won't feel overwhelmed. it gets really frustrating when you let things pile up and you have to spend 4 to 6 hours at a time to just catch up and prepare for exams/papers/presentations etc... this strategy worked well for me while i was finishing my MBA while working full-time and raising small children, if i let things pile up it was a major mess. good luck!!

I would recommend setting a daily schedule according to how much work you have. Get a timer. Set a specific time to work and then give yourself a break. Say 45 min. doing homework followed by 15 min. reading a book you like, playing a video game, etc. Look at the 15 min. as a reward.

Some people work better doing the subject they hate first and getting it out of the way. Other people find doing the subject they like the best first gets them settled into doing homework and focused.
