What is the best way to introduce a new dog to your old one? I have rescued a 1 year old who has never been walked, and was always tied up.
Would you suggest using a double leash and taking both dogs for walk training, or starting with just the new dog? The only problems we are having at home is the my first dog who was never food aggressive, growls at the new dog when he goes near his own dish. I have been feeding them separately, but I don't know if that is the right way to go about solving the problem. Thanks!

Go ahead and feed the dogs separately if old dog doesn't want to share. He may be feeling a bit threatened by the new dog; so let him have his way and his own dish. Won't hurt anything to feed them separately, and may be better for the dogs, since it will be easier for you to control their portions so they don't become overweight.
Dogs like to walk in packs, and if new dog and old dog can get along when food isn't involved then I'd try walking them together. Sometimes pack walks can making dog walking easier. Dogs learn things from one another sometimes and old dog can show new dog how it's done! If new dog won't cooperate, then you'll need to train him separately, but my guess is that the dogs will enjoy walking together if they get along OK outside of the food issues.
