What is the best way to get visitors to my blog?
I am very interested in creating a blog that does great. I understand I will not get rich overnight, but I plan on putting alot of time and energy into my new project. Can you tell me what is the best way to get visitors to my blog? What can I do?

Here are some effective ways that you can try to attract visitors to your blog:
1. Take advantage of your network by actively getting out and meet your social friends and othther friends who own a website. Email them and inform them about your blog and ask them if to let their readers know about it.
2. If you are an active blogger be an active blog reader as well. Posting on a popular blog will give you enough exposure and it is one of the best ways to get visitors to your blog.
3. Post some comments on other blogs. This is a great way to get noticed and attract other bloggers and those who read comments. It will benefit you a lot to be on the Top Commentator's list. Make sure that your comments have value in discussion since nobody like to read just "That's right!" or "I agree" comments.
4. In every post you write, don't forget to give out as much link love as possible. Write a post that can generate critique, expound, or disagree with things other bloggers have written.
5. Promote your blog's URL. Look for other ways to make people aware of your blog's URL. One of the most common ways is to be active in forums and include your blog in your signature.
6. You can also create traffic for your blog through blog carnivals or host a blog carnival. Make sure though that you don't take on more than you can handle and participate several time to get a feel for the carnival itself.

There are a number of ways to get visitors to come to your blog. The first thing you should consider is setting up a hosting account with a web host. By doing this you can get your own website name without any add-ons such as .blogspot or the like that you get starting one on Google Blogger. Once you have a host and a good domain name that really says what you are about, you should set your blog up on something like Wordpress. That is popular and offers many options. Once your blog is up and you are posting to it, sign up for the many social bookmarking sites online such as digg.com, or mix.com. This not only brings people to your site but gives you backlinks to your blog which is always good for a search engine placing. Another thing to do is to post a press release online at numerous sites. There are many free press release sites online. Do a search and start posting. Blog directories are another great way to draw people to your site. You can register for free in most of them. Some have stipulations that you have to be up and running so long or get so many hits per day, but others will let just anyone post their blog. One of these is Blogged.com.
