What is the best way to frost a cupcake?
I have seen cupcakes that have been frosted as if someone was frosting a cake and I have seen very decorative cupcakes with frosting piled up into a peak. There have been times when gummy animals have been placed on top of the cupcake and I was curious as to the most popular manner you have for frosting a cupcake. Will you share some of your frosting techniques so I can make more attractive cupcakes next go round?

I don't make cupcakes often and when I do I always just pipe the frosting on with a pastry bag.
