What is the Best way to fix ITUNES Album Art?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

A Mac-only program called TuneUp is one of the best out there.

This program will fix broken ID3 tags, adding artist name, album name, genre, year, track names and all pertinent information for each and every song.

Album art is added as well for each song and album. It works very well and can save hours of hand editing each and every track.

They offer both a free version that limits the number of changes to 100 songs to clean up and 50 songs/albums of album art. The cost for the unlimited version of TuneUp is $19.95 for a year's worth of use or $29.95 for unlimited use year and year.

The manual method for adding album I've used in the past was to right click on a song and select the "Get Album Artwork" option, which will go out to iTunes to find the album art of that particular artist. This requires you have the album and artist ID3 tags already set on the song.

Another manual option is to go out to Amazon.com and search for that particular album and then find the highest resolution album art that Amazon users have added for that album. Right click the album art image and choose to copy the image. This places the image on your clipboard.

Then in iTunes, find the song, right click and choose the "Get Info" option, click the Artwork tab at the top and paste the album art into the window. Then click OK to save the album art to the song.

To paste the copied album art to an entire album, highlight all of the songs belonging to the album then right click and choose the "Get Info" option. You will asked if you want to edit items for multiple selections. Click yes. In the information window, there is a box in the lower right corner called Artwork. Left click it once then paste the image and click OK to save.

My steps I've used for manually adding album art to iTunes.

Best is an application called Pollux at polluxapp.com I tried it with a section of my library a couple of weeks ago and it worked well so I threw the whole lot at it and it did a great job, 99% accurate and there is a lot of obscure stuff in there.

Just double checked the URL and they have exceeded bandwidth and stopped downloads. I expect it's mirrored somewhere, will have alook and report back here if I find it.
