What is the best way to cure shin splints?

Should you always walk if you have shin splints? Is it better to rest and stay away from strenuous exercise until the shin splints are better?

The best way to cure or heal shin splints is through the RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) method. When the condition occurs, rest your leg at least a week or so and avoid strenuous activities or exercise until the condition has improved. Ice the affected area for about 20 minutes, three times a day to reduce swelling and pain. Wrap a compression or ACE bandage around the area to prevent further swelling and promote healing. Elevate the leg on a pillow or cushion where the shin is above the level of the heart. This promotes good blood flow and healing. For shin or muscle pain, take an over-the-counter medication, such as Tylenol, Advil or Aleve to help the pain.

After the condition has resolved, start with low-impact exercises, such as walking or swimming, before returning to a more strenuous exercise routine.

There are different types of treatments people do to get away from Shin pain. regular exercises like pool running and stationary bikes are a kind treatment. These methods can be helpful in rehabilitating injuries. For pain relief, people consume non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as naproxen and ibuprofen.
