First you need to determine if you have suede the leather or suede the fabric. If it is made of a suede fabric and isn't actually leather, you can follow the laundering instructions on the label. If it is a actual leather suede (made from animal hide) then you can follow these instructions. (You should test for color fastness in a hidden spot before you try this on a visible surface, especially if your sofa has been dyed.)

To clean suede:

1. Rub the surface of the garment with a clean bath towel. This brings up the nap.
2. Try to remove small, dry stains through the judicious use of a clean pencil eraser. Small stains that are still wet should be blotted up by putting a paper towel on it and a weight on top of the towel. For either kind of stain, avoid using a chemical stain remover.
3. Stains may also be rubbed off with a damp towel and some white vinegar. Allow the leather to dry before assessing your success. After drying, the garment will reek of vinegar for a while – but it will eventually fade.
4. If there are lumps of dirt or dry scuff marks that won’t come off this way, try rasping them off with a fingernail file. Be gentle.
5. Your last step (if cleaning suede shoes) is to brush the shoe gently with a wire suede brush.
6. Body oil stains on clothing and suede furniture can be attacked with a degreaser leather cleaner made especially for suede.

How to clean a suede couch?

Things You'll Need:
Suede eraser
Suede brush
Suede cleaner
Vinegar
Clean towel

Having a suede couch ensures that you’ll be comfortable when relaxing and watching TV. It’s also a piece of furniture that makes a positive statement about your tastes in furniture. Unfortunately, suede can be as delicate as it is beautiful and is subject to spills and stains.

Determine the kind of cleaning job you need to do. If you’re trying to get rid of a single obvious stain, you’ll have to do different things than if you’re just trying to do a general maintenance clean. Check the whole surface of the sofa. Sometimes stains trickle to places you don’t expect. Locate all the stain spots.

Step
2
Rub a suede eraser against the soft fabric. The suede eraser uses small particles that get under the surface of the suede. When you brush these particles out, the dirt is taken out as well. In a pinch, you can use a pencil eraser to remove dried stains from your suede couch.

Step
3
Sweep the suede sofa with a metal suede brush. Use circular motions and a slight amount of pressure to remove dried stains. This will also give the suede a fluffier texture and give you a more comfortable sitting surface.

Step
4
Wipe the suede sofa with a damp towel. The point is to remove any dirt or stains while adding as little moisture as possible to the fabric. The suede should dry very quickly if you use this method.

Step
5
Test your suede sofa with any fluids or chemicals you may want to use on your sofa. Apply some of the cleaner to an inconspicuous part of the furniture and wait to see if the fabric is damaged or discovered. You might consider doing this on the reverse of the hem at the bottom, where no one will ever see it.

Step
6
Apply soap or suede cleaner and follow the instructions on the bottle. There are all kinds of different preparations and each has different directions. Vinegar is also a common household chemical you can use to clean suede. Dab a bit of vinegar on the suede couch and brush the suede clean. Wipe the vinegar and the stain off with a clean towel.

It is important to do it bit by bit, just to be sure the chemical is working properly.

My couch is the same, I fill a bowl up with warm water and Woolite and use a wash cloth to wipe the whole couch down.
Then I take a dry towel and wipe it down again. It dries pretty fast and looks great!
