What is the best way to clean a leather couch?

I have various gel and ink pen marks all over an ivory colored leather couch. I would like a non damaging and non toxic way to clean off all these marks. The cheaper the better! I tried a household cleaner and I saw the original color underneath it but it left the leather somewhat sticky. How would I go about making my couch pristine once again?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

That all sounds too involved and painful. I have leather wipes that I bought at Target. They're named Weiman Leather Wipes. Just pull one out of the container, swab the couch and you're done. It's fresh, clean, moisturized, and sparkly new in under three minutes. Toss the wipe and crack a beer. Your job is done. It's so easy I do it once a week.

I bought all of that other fancy creams and polishes for my car's leather interior... It took two hours. My car would never be detailed if I had to do that again.

I would suggest saddle cleaner. It's safe and it keeps the material strong and it won't fade out the color. :)

I would recommend cleaning it very carefully! I guess you can try some miracle cleaner like Didi Seven. If you've seen the infomercials, you know what I'm talking about.

I bought leather furniure two years ago and have applied POND's twice a year and are fully satisfied Furniture looks as beautiful...another way is Mix 1 cup rubbing alcohol with 1 cup water. Moisten a cloth with the mixture and wipe the affected area. Let air dry.

Thanks for sharing..

Go to a tack store and get some saddle soap. This is good quality cleanser that is typically used on $1000+ saddles to make them clean. They are made to be safe and strong.

I found that using perfume works.
You might have to clean the rest of the couch to match the cleanliness of the spot though.
Do a patch test in an unnoticeable area first.

The saddle soap is a must But it probably will not get ball point ink.
One of the best cleaners I know of is peanut butter.
I have never used it on leather so test it carefully. It will not harm the leather but it might get the dye.

PS. Creamy, no chunks.
PS: Peanut butter will even remove chewing gum from your kid's clothes and hair.

Beware of harsh solvents, benzene, alcohol, etc. They will remove any remaining natural oil from the leather.
