What is the best type of yoga mat for a beginner?
I'm a new yoga student. I would love a good matt that is super stable and preferably not horrible for the environment.

Gaiam offers a number of Eco friendly yoga mats and accessories. Looking at their website I see that even have a cork yoga block. Very cool. Their Eco friendly mats are PVC free and offered in more modern colors than their traditional purple and turquoise. They even have one that is biodegradable. If you have cats and leave your yoga mat unattended, the cats will speed up the process. For some reason, felines really are intrigued and can't resist picking at the mat.
There really are no special mats for beginners. Select one that you enjoy looking at and that fits your budget.
