What is the best type of ice skate for beginner/intermediate skater?

size 5.5
Tip for best answer: M$2.10
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you're looking for skates for children, I would always recommend a cheaper brand since kids feet grow so fast, unless they are involved in something that is serious... like a team or group.

There's a very good article on this link
http://www.galttech.com/research/sports/best-ice-skates.php
that covers different brands of hockey skates for different shaped feet.

They mention the Roces J Due Adjustable skates at $130 that are perfect for a beginner but are strong enough to last through more than a season!

I would advise finding a store in your area so you can try them on before buying. With hockey it's very important that the skates fit snug!

Keep warm...

They mentioned skates for hockey, not figure skates.
