What is the best solution for Windows Home Server anti-virus software? Any freebies?

It will be running on an Acer Aspire easyStore Home Server WHS 2003 Service Pack 2 build 5.2.3790
Tip for best answer: M$1.11
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

According to Philip Churchill of mswhs.com, he posted that "compatible anti-virus software for Windows Home Server, we came to the conclusion that NOD32 was the best paid for option and that ClamWin was probably the best FREE option available."

Furthermore, he also tested the following anti-virus products for Windows Home Server:

* Avast 4 Server Edition. Good but expensive at $399 for the one license.
* Avast 4 Small Business Server. Only available in 5+ licenses for $199.75. Less expensive than the sever edition but cheaper alternatives are available.
* Sophos Anti-Virus SBE 2.0. Again only available for 5+ users @ £148 ($295)
* AVG Anti-Virus Network edition. Available for 2 computers @ $62.95. This is extremely good value. And works extremely well.
* Avira AntiVir Server. Only available for 10+ users @ €320 ($430) Very Expensive!
* McAfee Enterprise AV 8.0i-8.5i. Expensive, but works well.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

if you windows is genuine then windows essential is the best free antivirus you can get. i have used it for almost a month before switching to eset security suite.
other free antivirus are avg and avira, you can find the reviews of the best anti virus and also best security suites:
for antivirus:http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/in/
for security suite:http://internet-security-suite-review.toptenreviews.com/

security suites have extra protection like firewall, filtering the traffic and also blocking potential harmful sites.
anti virus only scan your system for virus and spy-ware and remove them.

i would say that windows essential is the best free anti virus you can get and next is avg and avira. avg gives support of filtering harmful sites in the free edition.
