What is the best software to make screencasts and to edit videos on Ubuntu Linux?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

For editing videos I recommend Cinelerra(http://www.cinelerra.org/) It has a very user friendly interface.

Jahshaka may be good for editing videos. I haven't tried it though.

M$I run ubuntu studio currently, and I use cinelerra and kino for video editing, but in all honesty, unless some linux distro gets it's s**t together as far as hd video capturing and processing, i'm going to have to give it up when I get into my advanced productions class next year, i'll probably wind up getting a mac, even though i hate them (not as much as i hate vista tho). Unfortunately, video editing is just on of those things that isn't up to par in linux, no matter how you go about it.
