What is the best software solution to remotely provide tech support to family members with computer problems?

Tip for best answer: M$2.57
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

A really high-end solution that's free for private use is Netviewer. It includes voice and video so you don't need to pay for the phone call either. And what's really good about netviewer is that I haven't yet found a firewall that stopped it from working, something that I can't say about Real VNC or remote desktop.

If you are willing to try a paid solution, gotomypc.com is really cool. It is not free, but it is really easy and works instantly with no configuration. Go to http://www.gotomypc.com to read more about it.

The easiest way is use Remote Desktop of Windows. I know that it is part of the standard install of Windows XP but not if it part of the newers versions.

Another way, little more advanced, is chose a VNC software.
There are good free software like Real VNC.

The import is that you feel confortable with the tool, just taste it.

Regards

The easiest is to use teamviewer. It can be download here. http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx
You both can download the program and you can install or just run it without install. It'll give you an ID session and you'll get to see the other desktop rightaway.
