What is the best site to create a blog?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think the two most popular blogging sites online are Blogger and Wordpress. Wordpress provides templates that look more professional, but Blogger provides a few as well. If you know how to do html, even better, because you can make changes to both, on your own.

I personally use Blogger, because I find it much more user friendly. Some say the same about Wordpress though.

I'd suggest creating an account with both sites, get a feel for how each of them works, and decide from there which you prefer.

Another thing you might consider doing is, once you decide the name you want your blog to have, reserve that blog name from both blogger and wordpress. If you start with a blogger blog, you can always convert it to wordpress down the road, and many people have done that.

I've also read that it can take longer for a wordpress blog to show up in search engines, so you might keep that in mind, depending upon what your goals are for your new blog.

Here's a really great article I found a while ago, while researching building niche content blogs. This might help you decide which is better for your needs.

Excellent site, keep up the good work. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks

My recommendation is Weebly (http://www.weebly.com). You point and click to choose your template, and you can have other pages on your site as well as the blog if you like (an About page or Contact page, for instance). It's really easy to use, requires no technical skills whatsoever, and you can point a domain name to it for free (www.yourdomain.com). My personal blog is made with Weebly. Have a look: http://www.jonkepler.com

Jon, your blog looks great! I might have to take a look at Weebly. How much does it cost to have a website, without all the ads?

It's free to have a website without ads. However, if you want to get rid of the "create a free website with Weebly" text at the bottom of the page, you can upgrade to Weebly Pro for $4.58/month for six months, $3.99/month for 1 year, or $2.99/month for 2 years.

I would recommend http://www.blogger.com/home. They are very easy to use and you can tie it to your gmail account. They have a large database of customizable templates too. You can have your blog up and running within 5-10 minutes of entering the site.
