Bakers is by far the best. I love the staff there; they know me and my group of friends by name! They usually have great music there too (as I'm sure you know), and the food and drinks are outstanding. If you're looking for just some good old soul food, then our other go-to favorite is My Sisters and Me. It's in a pretty good location in Harper Woods, and the food is the best I've ever had. Bakers is my favorite because of the mixture of the food and atmosphere, but Sisters has the best soul food for sure. I always get the southern fried chicken, so I can't speak for ALL of the items on their menu, but everyone I've ate there with has LOVED their meal. I think they have recently switched management, but they have kept the original cook, so the food's the same. It's always really quiet in there, and you can do take-out too! I'll give you the address and phone number in case you really want to check it out (which you should!).
