What is the best program to use for podcasting on a Windows XP or vista machine.

Yes I know I should by a Mac, but I have 3 Windows machines and want to start before I can save 4 car payments for the Mac.
Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The best podcasting program that you can get for free is Audacity.
Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds.

For basic podcast recording needs I would recommend Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

You might also like ePodcast Producer
http://www.industrialaudiosoftware.com/products/epodcastproducer.html

There is also a interesting article that discusses various areas of podcasting: http://www.cnet.com.au/software/music/0,239025669,240055727,00.htm

Hope it helps :)

Depends on whether you're doing a one-person podcast or not as there are a lot of hardware requirements once you move on to two or more people (assuming each person has their own mic).

Audacity (open source) is a robust audio mixer/recorder software that's also free. It has enough features to let you record and clean up your audio and non-linear editing to let you put in intros/outros etc.

When it comes to podcasts, content is very important and software/gadgets come second. Using Audacity will let you 'get your feet wet' for free and get into a rhythm of producing podcasts regularly.

I use GoldWave not only in podcasting but in recording voice over as well. It is very easy to use and you can get it for free. Download it here:
http://goldwave.com/
You do not need to buy a licensed version because the trial version is good enough. You can also apply special effects in your sound, add background music, and I find it very easy to use.

I think you should try Propaganda Podcasting.
It's probably one of the best you can get for Windows.

<a href="http://store.apple.com/us/product/D3381Z/A">Quicktime Pro</a> is a pretty good one to use. It's $29 bucks though, so if you are looking for free software, you should look into Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/). Grab a good USB mic, and you should be set.
