What is the best Professional Canon Camcorder recommended for a creative Cinematographer?
The talk of the town is Canon- with renowned lens and image processing capabilities, extraordinary performance and excellent video quality maximizing the brilliance of HD video. My brother is into Photography from childhood and doing his Graduation in Visual Communication. For competing in a 15 minute Short Film competition he needs a professional camcorder where the special requirement is the freedom to shoot either video or photos at a moment’s notice—without using extra equipment. I would like to surprise him with one. Do you have personal experiences in using the same? What is the price range?

I recommend the Canon XH-A1S 3CCD HDV High Definition Professional Camcorder with 20x HD Video Zoom Lens III. You can purchase this camcorder from www.amazon.com for Sale: $3,399.00. According to this www.cnet.com article by Lori Grunin the Canon XH A1 was regarded as an " excellent camcorders for entry-level professionals and independent filmmakers. I made a check with Amazon and realised there was a newer model which had great customers reviews. If you are looking for a professional camcorder you have to spend within the price range of $3000 and up. If this price is to steep another alnernative would be theCanon VIXIA HF S11 HD Dual Flash Memory Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom which was rated as the best camcorder by www.toptenreviews.com. You can purchase this item from www.amazon for $1,150.52

This camera feels like a terrific tool that can do whatever you need and the picture quality--even on Auto--is beautiful. Having the two XLR terminals will make a big difference, too. The versatility and design really meets such a variety of needs--way too much machine/expense for "home video" (it's not the kind of camera people forget is pointing at them), but great if you want to shoot training films, web videos, independent films.
Technology has changed so much in the 20 years since I was in film school--and it's still hard for me to believe that such a great camera, capable of such a quality product, is available for under $4000.
Very impressed. Highly recommended.
