What is the best place to buy tea online?

I want to buy tea online. I'd like a big selection with cheap shipping. I'm essentially looking for the New Egg of tea, instead of computer bits.
Tip for best answer: M$1.60
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would recommend Samovar Tea, which is a tea lounge based in San Francisco. They have a few brick-and-mortar locations, and also a nice online store. I wouldn't compare them to NewEgg simply because they don't have an exhaustive list of every type of tea in the universe, but their selection is fairly large and EVERY single variety they carry is top-notch.

They also have lots of videos and other resources to help you learn about tea and the Samovar philosophy.

I've been a customer of theirs for years, and I wouldn't buy my tea anywhere else.

Holy crap they're expensive. They're like the Tiffany's of tea. I will try them out when I get some more money...

One annoying thing they do is sell teas by weight, but their recipes are all by volume so you can't figure out how much tea you can make. Or am I missing something?

I have purchased tea online from Eastern Shore Tea Co. The website is easternshoretea.com (phone # 800-823-1408). Their logo is "teas flavored with imagination". Love their products (even their coffee) and the service is great! They have a large selection of reasonably priced good tea.

My personal favorite is Upton Tea Imports:

http://www.uptontea.com/

Huge selection, very cheap shipping, very reasonable prices (including many high-quality inexpensive teas, but also, they have some very high-ends teas too.) I think they're best for Indian teas, also have some good Chinese green teas. I'm less a fan of their Ceylon and Japanese greens.

If you want to locate more tea companies with other strengths, I run an interactive tea website which has a huge listing of different companies:

Enjoy!
