What is the best photograph you ever took?

...which you later released somewhere on the web.
Tip for best answer: M$1.50
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

This is one of my best photographs, and it's now available on the web as a free stock photo. I caught the boats and water right at sunrise, when the light was ideal. I made sure the subject was slightly offset and used the rule of thirds to compose the shot.

I think these are the best... although I guess for other's opinion, there could've been better than these based on the ones I took:

See the sad smiley on this one? ^^

I posted lots of similar images on my blog. I took it last February 14 at Clark Hot Air Balloon Festival. Check out the post in my blog for more pictures I took during that day. :)

Here is just one of my faves, I accidently took it while crossing the road, I didnt even know that it had been taken until later. I think it turned out well for an accidental shot. I have it posted on my blog.

So I know it doesn't classify as art, but this is the best photograph that I've ever taken. It's just way too cute, and I put it on a website that I share with my family and friends. If you look in the background, you can see where he slammed his bottle against the headboard of the bed and milk went all over it.

Here are some of my pics from Antarctica. All were taken with a Canon EOS 20D.

This one. Why is it the best? Cute kid (mine), beautiful corn snakes, a lad in a kilt, long hair, Celtic adornments, Ren Faire, all well-composed. I've used this image all over the place. It's my fave AND my best!

Thank you! I take every opportunity possible to share it. I love all the creatures you see here. The human one is a pro reptile wrangler and a Music Industry Studies major in college. Looks the part for both, dontcha think?

I don't know if these are good, but I like them. The last one definitely wins the prize for funniest picture I've ever taken.

It's hard to catch a sunset
I don't have a favourite photo but this photo captures a bit of the melancholy and desolation of Peru
There's an old couple sitting on a bench -so far from our rush modernized world
A great photo, though I wish the TV tower was not captured.

I'd have to say this is probably my best photograph, just because I got to borrow a digital SLR from the university instead of using my usual point-and-shoot!
http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs41/i/2009/052/b/1/Yellow_Focus_by_MissingHorcrux.jpg

But I also have a couple other pictures I rather like:

It is not one photograph but a series of them. The expedition started off as soon as I reached Canada and had ample amount of time in my hands. The beauty before me was so compelling that I simply couldnt resist the temptation of capturing it in my camera. The result was a beautiful collage of the different faces of nature through the different seasons.

I recently rebuilt my computer operating system and am working to reconnect all of my online access to photos and blogs and such. I think this should get you to a photo I took several weeks ago that I've been pleased with. I happened to pass a neighbor's duck pond at sunset and saw the ducks walking on their pond and the warm light making their colors rich, including those bright orange legs and feet! I also love the texture of the ice in this light.

Okay. I am editing this answer to leave in this link. Click on it and you can see a larger version. This is cropped from a larger photo, that was also interesting, but I wanted to highlight the ducks.

Is this my best photo ever? Who can say? I have many I've been very happy with, and those of my children and loved ones I consider priceless. But for a public image that is just interesting to look at, this is one of my most recent that came out as well as I hoped it would.

The "release on the web" part is that I've shared it with my organic gardening web friends and I entered it in a local photo contest at my public radio station. (Yes, the pictures ARE better on the radio, but this is their online component!)

I took some nice shots in the Southwest in and around Las Vegas last fall, and also at the Grand Canyon. I posted a slideshow of them on AC (links below). I'm an amateur photographer but I think they're pretty good. Or at least pretty scenery.

What I consider "best" may not be what other people consider best of course. And it may be cheating since I'm a photographer by trade. But one of the latest images I've taken that I particularly like is here:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_cvcx7PZdJmw/S4g2UZU0hQI/AAAAAAAAqcY/zUEc45xnUPc/stereoblind.jpg
(Copyright © 2010, Stereoblind. All rights reserved.)

Sorry for the watermark it's a very valuable image so I can't have large, detailed unmarked copies floating around.

What makes that image SO cool in my opinion is that that is unedited aside from being resized, cropped and watermarked. The fire is real (we actually lit the floor on fire in front of her), the color balance that makes her skin look bluish was all done in-camera.

The other thing that makes the image so wonderful to me is the model is actually a Tahitian woman who teaches dance. That's a traditional outfit she's wearing. It's part of a series we're doing together showing her culture in ways that hasn't been done before and made available to the public.

That image at 4 feet by 5 feet on art rag, UV coated, archival/gallery quality sells for $3k. It's a limited edition, only 5 exist of that size and type.

I've never posted a copy of this online before. I hope people enjoy seeing it. :)
