What is the best overall programming language?

I know that there are plenty of languages for different reasons (C# for a balance of simplicity and power, Java for universal code) but overall, what programming language do you think is the best?

I would argue that there is no "best" language, since practically you should use what you're most comfortable with. With that being said though, I say that C/C++ is still the standard. It's fast, powerful, and widely used for a huge range of projects going from the complex to trivial. If you're dealing with any scripting, Python is the most elegant and easy to use in my opinion. Python has a great community, documentation, and a ton of libraries.

Yes, I know there are a lot, I even specified that I already knew that, but I'm asking the community for their opinion on the one which is the most powerful, has the best performance, ease of use, power, compatibility, etc overall.
