What is the best or most effective way to clean a toilet bowl? I've seen those auto cleaners to scrubs, which actually works best and why?

Do you have any products that you recommend, and if so why?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I am a bit of a clean freak, and this is what I've found to work best. I use a toilet cleaner called The Works for rigorous cleaning. You can buy this at most department stores; I buy mine at Wal-Mart for about a $1. Even though, it is cheap, I've found that it works better than most others I have tried.

To scrub with, I use the disposable toilet brushes by Scrubbing Bubbles. The thought of having a toilet brush that just sits there all the time grosses me out and seems very unhygienic.

For everyday cleaning, I *highly* recommend the Scrubbing Bubbles toilet cleaning gel. It comes with a gel dispenser that stamps a gel disc of cleaner on the inside of your toilet bowl. This disc cleans with each flush, and is a more attractive and better working alternative to those stick-on toilet cleaners.

Hope that helps!!

We have very hard water with a lot of iron, so I have to use The Works toilet cleaner. I've tried a bunch of various other cleaners, and that's the only thing that I've seen that works on the rust. I just use the standard old toilet brush and scrub.

I will def try the Works ! But my own favorite is good old cleanser, bleach and a scrub brush. A nasty job but somebody's gotta do it !
