What is the best office chair under $250 and where do I get it?

Tip for best answer: M$5.00

The best office chair under $250 is The Posture Improving Exercise Ball Chair which can be found at Hammacher Schlemmer for $249.95. Why is it the best you may ask? First off, it's not a chair for you to lounge in, which means you'll get work done in this chair rather than falling asleep and resting. Second, it helps you improve your posture, and you can sit on it and balance your core body. Thirdly, this chair helps strengthen your core, whereas other chairs that you lounge in will not strengthen your core. And finally, this chair does not take up a lot of room, and can easily be moved around. Overall, it's a great chair for the office, and I believe it's the best one you'll have recommended to you! At least it will make you stronger at the office, whereas other chairs will not do the same.

You can purchase it at Hammacher Schlemmer

If this chair did not do it for you, a similar chair called the Gaiam Balance Ball Chair, which can be found at Amazon is a great office chair. You can get this one at Amazon. This one has a back, so check it out.

I would go with the Realspace Pro Midback chair from Office Depot (Item # 355380). It is one of the few chairs designed for "Intensive" use (5 or more hours). I got mine at work about 3 months ago and it has been a backsaver.

The whole thing comes down to fit. How much is it going to cost you to get a seat with the best fit for your body?

The best office chair I have ever used is actually a chair from Ikea, you can either go to an ikea and try it out or order it online, and have it shipped it is $199 and is very comfortable and sharp looking, I have worked 10 hour days in it and felt fine. It's called the Markus, here is a link to the chair on ikeas website, look at some of the others too there are a few that are cheaper, I would spend the extra for the Markus, it is well worth it. best of luck with your chair hunt. The right chair is the most important piece of equipment in any line of business, if you can't sit comfortably you will not be as productive.

The Steelcase chairs I work on are reputed to cost $1700. I have found several sites that sell and distribute such chairs online at steep discounts because of companies going out of business. Check the following site.... The min purchase order is 1 item.

I did some serious looking for an office chair for myself earlier this year. I had a $200 budget. My personal requirements were that the chair needed to be very adjustable, needed to have a lumbar support, needed to have a mid-height back, needed to have strong cushioning, and preferably was a name brand. After looking and testing I fell in love with a manager's chair from Sealy, the same company that makes the wonderful matresses and couches. The chair was extreemly adjustable, it had memory foam, and had a great lumbar support. And the price was perfect. You can get this chair in a very comfortable tan microsuede for $189.99 at OfficeMax or in a classic black leather for $209.99. If you have an OfficeMax in the area delivery should be free. Assembly was easy or you can have them assemble it for you. After 9 months, I'm still in love with this chair and think that you would love it too.

Office chairs are always a matter of personal preference, but chairs with more adjustments tend to be more comfortable. Chairs with adjustable arms offer great flexibility allowing you to find a work position that is most comfortable for you. There are several chairs to consider at Overstock.com. I have ordered dozens of products from them over the years. I have always been satisfied. There are many customer reviews also. (BYW I liked the medium back hieght.)

Ergo Mesh Medium Back Task Chair
and
Ergo Mesh High-back Executive Chair

It would help to know what traits you would consider when picking the "Best" chair. Functionality? Adjustability? Style? Durability? Back support for those that have back issues?

I have personally been looking for a chair for about 2 years. I spend a 10-12 hours a day sitting in the darn thing and have mild (very mild) back issues. I settled on the Aeron from Herman Miller (link below) but this is well out of the stated price range.

When I started my search, I had a similar price tag. I searched office depot, staples, office furniture supply stores etc. I found that the chairs in your price rage did not offer what I wanted. Before I made the decision to step up to the top level, I was leaning toward the Verksam from IKEA. It was sturdy, had a few adjustments and was very comfortable (see link below). All of the chairs that I found in the $250 price rage felt like the seat cushion would wear out (compress) after a year of use. This is what my then current chair had done.

Recommendation: Verksam from IKEA for it sturdiness, adjustability and price (first link below)

You may also want to consider a used chair. Unfortunately for most but fortunately for those in the office furniture market, over the next 12 months there is going to be a glut in the used office furniture business.

I have a few links to independent reviews below.
