What is the best mind-bending picture you have seen?

Okay, I have always loved Escher's work:
http://www.mindspring.com/~mc.escher/escher/escher29.jpg

But I've seen other great works too. Things like this artist's work:

http://www.funnypicturefunnyphoto.com/funny-picture-photo-3241BethaniaVillage-Simon-Pais-Thomas-pic.jpg

What picture have you seen that bends your mind a bit? Please paste the image so we can all enjoy!!

(If you don't know how, you can either use the "photo link" and paste the url link--which should end in either ".jpg" ".gif" or ".png"--or you can paste it in the answer as you see I did.)
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

As a kid, I really loved the Chris van Allsberg books, especially "The Mysteries of Harris Burdick." It's just weird pictures and one line captions that inspire you to invent your own story. For some reason, it's the first thing I thought of when I saw this question:

Also, I both love and hate this Animal Collective cover image. It makes my brain hurt:

I've seen all sorts of illusions, where two slightly different objects appear the same or vice versa. But this....the two squares in questions look WAY TOO different to be the same, so different that I did not trust the picture and had to go to photoshop myself to check. Needless to say they were identical. Enjoy!

(the squares marked A and B are of the same shade of gray....believe it or not)

That is amazing. I didn't believe it either but if you pull it into photoshop, you're right!

Salvador Dali - I was looking for another one, there are so many of his. He was there at the time I was in NY with some gallery people I saw but I didn't get to see him. They talked of his gold cane.I was just seeing a lot of his paintings.

I can't seem to fix it or delete it. I will have to ask a question for how to paste pictures. It wouldn't work with the url.

Some nice optical illusions in here.

Julian Beever is an interesting character. He draws pictures on pavement sidewalks. You may have seen his work before. I'll let the art do the talking.

My favorites are the first two. Others are here for good measure.

The picture of the Earth in the blackness of outer space. Probably the most attitude changing picture ever taken.

I can never see these things. I think the first one is some kind of parrot. The second one might be my lawn right before I mow it....

although i like the "figure-ground" pictures, the 3d-scapes, the images used in psychophysics, and much by the surrealists, most anything by escher wins "hands down." the most mind-bending to me are the ones that raise deep philosophical questions, like this one:

The pictures that are made with 3d animation software can be amazing.
See example at bottom.

There is a good intro page for Bryce 3D software at Mahalo here:

Using keywords like bryce or poser or maya and 3d gallery or art gallery or award winning gallery, you can find online art galleries to view.
Be sure you follow copyright rules for using the photos as many make a living from this art.
Some sites have free wallpaper to download, and they specify how you are allowed to use it.

http://www.digitalblasphemy.com/ If you look at the small daily selection of free wallpaper and imagine what it would look like on your desktop, then you can see how you can subtly "bend your mind" every single day of the year - and that may be the most mind-bending of all! (If you buy a membership you can download over six hundred such digital pictures to all your electronic devices and become totally bent gradually without even noticing it!) Is that bent enough?

I think that the best mind-bending pictures are the ones that are two pictures in one, like these.

How true! I recall seeing a similar artist who had numerous Native American pictures similar to these, but I don't recall who it was.

Lastly, if this image does not bend your mind, don't know what will:
