What is the best job you've ever had?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The best job that I ever had was working with Santa Claus. I was the manager for setting up and running Santa Claus in over 20 malls during the holiday season. I had this job for over 5 years and retired due to some health problems or I would still be doing it. I traveled all over the country setting up the elabroate decorations in the malls where Santa sits. Then I would interview Santas, elves, and photographers. What better job that getting paid to hang out at the mall all day with Santa. My best job ever, lots of fun and making lots of friends.

This one! lol

I can honestly say freelancing from home is by far the best job I have ever had. Being that I'm only 24 and haven't worked a large portion of places .. I suppose best is easy to pick.

Had my employer paid me like she was supposed to, Nanny in Germany would have been the best. I love kids and I loved it there but once my savings was gone and the paychecks still didn't come I kind of had no choice but to return home.

The best job I ever had is being a mother. On top of all the things listed above you also get to be a nurse, a short order cook, a chauffeur, a counselor, a referee, and a housekeeper. The stress is high and the hours are long. You're on call 24/7, but I can't think of a job of greater importance or one with greater rewards.

Well, I have been a student and thus unemployed for the past 4 years, however, prior to this I have worked for almost 5 years as a translator on an Army base in Germany. Since this was a local national position, I worked under the German tariff agreement and enjoyed the leisure of being able to take 30 days of leave every year, unlimited paid sick days, and even had the chance to take 6 months off (3 of which were paid) after the birth of my second child. While my boss tried to appear grumpy and strict at times, he was usually easy to persuade to give you time off when an emergency came up. But overall, the working atmosphere was just excellent. All coworkers enjoyed a close working relationship and we had many fun events at our job that brought us together as individuals as well. I truly enjoyed working in this environment and was very upset when I had to leave this position due to relocation to a stateside military installation (my husband was in the Army at the time).

I suppose the job I have now is the best job I've ever had, because it pays enough to support me and allow for some luxuries, I have health insurance, I get 3 weeks of vacation time, they contribute to my 401k, and I like my boss. The actual work is becoming progressively less enjoyable, but my quality of life in general is pretty good.

I'm not sure if I would be willing to trade and take a job that paid less that I really enjoyed more, because I'm not one of those people whose life is to work. I work so I can have my life. Maybe that wouldn't be true if I had some job that I really loved, but I enjoy my unregulated time much more than on-the-clock time, just on principal, I think.

Teaching is the best job ever, if you can get work! Oh, and if your boss supports your authority and doesn't undermine it.

A teacher gets to be everything she ever dreamed of being, every day -- an actor, a historian, a writer, a game show host, a mentor, a tutor, an educator, an inspiration, a cheerleader, a coach...
