What is the best ipod touch texting app? Free or paid.

I am thinking of getting an iphone (or maybe blackberry) but I do not want to pay for the data AND unlimited texting/picture sending which I have now (currently using verizon).

I want to find a free texting app free or paid - whatever is best. Also, does it use email or what to send the texts? What will be the differences besides interface with this free texting and texting via a cell phone plan.

Oh, also what address/number will the person I am sending to see?

Thanks!

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Textfree Unlimited has 4 stars and 2997 reviews. It's $5.99 and it's totally worth it.

It's also available in a lite version for free, but it doesn't have all the features, obviously.

You can send free texts from an iPod touch or iPhone to any US mobile phone. Replies come free too.
